Höjd alkoholskatt minskar cancerincidensen

Alkohol orsakade mer än 35 000 alkoholrelaterade cancerfall under 2018 i fyra undersökta europeiska länder (Tyskland, Italien, Kazakhstan och Sverige). Högsta antalet konstaterades i Tyskland och lägsta i Sverige.

Författarna menar att med hundraprocentig höjd alkoholbeskattning skulle antalet alkoholrelaterade cancerfall minska med 3-7 procent. Finlands beskattningssystem tas som positivt exempel och skulle exempelvis Tyskland lägga sig på finsk skattenivå skulle cancerfallen årligen minska med cirka 1 600.

Summering enligt forskningsrapporten: En ökad beskattning på alkohol skulle leda till en rejäl minskning av cancerincidensen i Europa.
